Testing...the waters

5/1/19
Yesterday closed with popcorn with M+M's and The Voice. Today was the second day in the classroom.
Popcorn and The Voice
This week has been testing week. They are standardized testing kindergartner's. This blows my mind because they are so young and it is hard for them to sit still let alone read some of the questions. My job was to assist with the pacing with 2-3 kids at a time take the test on a laptop.

2nd Day

There has been a lot of aggression lately in the classroom. This includes: hitting, throwing chairs, ripping projects.  We did a restorative circle, this is where everyone goes around and says something that makes them mad. After, everyone says what they do to calm themselves down. This exercise is something that I don't remember doing in kindergarten. I think if we did activities like this in kindergarten and elementary, there might be more communication on feelings and how to help with mental health.

Custodian Mr. Don stopped in at the end of the day and told Mrs. B and I that kids have been "finger painting" on the walls in the bathroom... (with their poop!)
A funny thing that happened was on a math test, a girl answered a question like this:
Hours: 12 Hours
Total: 23
